birth photography
(SCROLL DOWN FOR NEW POSTS)
I have had a surprising interest in birth photography since sharing John Parker’s birth pictures and slideshow. I am only available on a very limited basis so contact me by email natasha@natashachalker.com or phone 334.303.8006 for more information. As a photographer, I strive to tell a story with pictures. Lifestyle/photojournalistic portraiture is my favorite style of photography so naturally, I have found myself drawn to birth photography. In the delivery room, I am able to be as discreet as possible, no flash is used to blind the doctor, nurses, baby. I aim to blend into the back ground, quietly snapping pictures of the many moments you may not remember once you bring your bundle home from the hospital. Currently I am waiting on a baby boy to be born, due around Christmas Eve…
Giving is awesome winner
I have decided not to announce the winner due to confidentiality reasons but these people truly deserve a complimentary session and I am pleased to do it for them! I love being able to give back to the community and I appreciate the responses I received. I will do this again next year so be thinking about someone you’d like to nominate and I will announce it again in November 2009 – which will be here before we know it, right?!
For other news, I am going to completely update my blog and website for 2009. A brand new look – and I’m pretty excited about it so stay tuned in the next week (or two) and hopefully I will have everything up and ready by then. Here’s a hint of what’s to come:

baby logan, coming soon
Logan’s mommy contacted me about a maternity session. She wanted some photos to share with family when they head back home to New Mexico for Christmas. Logan is lucky to have such a beautiful mom.

Griffin is here
and what a little blessing he is – all 6 pounds of him.
Congratulations Trista and Brock! Slideshow coming after Christmas…

Hannah’s Wish
I saw this email right after I had addressed our last Christmas card. Actually, I have more cards but not anymore 5×7 envelopes. I started digging through drawers and found not one, but two envelopes. I’m sending Hannah a card tomorrow. Won’t you do so, too?
> This is the true story of my 5-yr old 2nd cousin, Hannah Garman, who
> was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a rare and incurable brain
> tumor. She has been given 12 weeks to live and is currently in her 7th
> week. She was going to be the flower girl in our wedding in May, but
> was diagnosed a week after we asked her to be the flower girl. This is
> especially sad because her mother died 2 yrs ago from breast cancer.
>
> Right now she has lost most of her motor skills. She is confined to
> bed and cannot really do anything or play with the gifts she is
> getting from people, but she LOVES getting cards – she has gotten so
> many from people she does not know and just loves to have grandma read
> about the people who send them and see their pictures and is so proud
> of all her cards. Her room is just filled with cards.
>
> When asked what she wants for Christmas she said she wants to see how
> many Christmas cards she can get. Many people have passed this wish
> along to their churches, prayer groups, friends and family. There are
> school groups where children are making her cards. People are
> including pictures so she can see who it is that is sending her the
> card.
>
> If you would like to help with her wish, you can send a card to her

Part 2, coming later. Isn’t he precious?

Closer crop of this sweet face

Both moms and Meme stood behind me, banging pots and pans, jumping up and down and doing whatever it took to get five kids to look at the camera. In the end, this one was my favorites:

My cousin, Tonya, just graduated from college with her second bachelor’s degree in interior design. Check out her portfolio:

Giving is Awesome!
I have teamed up with a large group of photographers to give away a free session and package to a worthy recipient (worth $1,000).
You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this Christmas season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 print credit. What better reason to show some love?
Here are the details:
~ You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.) Times are tough; many people have lost their homes, jobs and hope. Custom portraiture is the last thing they are able to afford right now.
~ The nominee must reside in Enterprise, Alabama or immediate surrounding areas (photo session to take place within 40 miles of Enterprise). Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well (email and phone number please).
~ You can only nominate one person, please.
~ You must email the nomination and story to natasha@natashachalker.com
The winner will be announced Christmas Eve so start thinking of someone to nominate and spread the word around!
Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.
